California local elections: Preliminary results show incumbents leading in multiple cities

Preliminary election results from across California show several incumbents maintaining strong leads in local races. In San Jose, Peter Ortiz, Genny Altwer, and Bien Doan are leading in Districts 5, 9, and 7, respectively, as officials continue to process thousands of remaining ballots.

In San Francisco, Supervisors Stephen Sherrill, Alan Wong, and Matt Dorsey are on track to win reelection to the Board of Supervisors, preserving a moderate majority. Similarly, in San Ramon Valley, incumbents appear poised to retain their seats, including Mayor Mark Armstrong and Councilmember Richard Adler.

Other notable regional updates include:

• Los Angeles: Two City Council races in the Third and Ninth Districts remain too close to call, with hundreds of thousands of ballots still being tallied. • Santa Clara: Kimberley Williams and Eric Crutchlow hold early leads in City Council contests. • San Benito County: Early results show narrow leads for Brian Chavez and Dolores Morales in Hollister. • Livermore: Incumbent Ben Barrientos holds a significant lead over challenger Narayan Tadimeti.

In several counties, voters are also deciding on critical local measures, including school construction bonds in Chelan and Douglas counties, and various sales tax and utility tax proposals in Santa Barbara County.
