California luxury home market cools as prices dip in Palm Springs and northern listings
Luxury real‑estate activity in California is showing signs of moderation. In Palm Springs, two recently built upscale homes reduced their asking prices by a combined $70,000, with one dropping from $1.585 million to $1.555 million and another from $1.638 million to $1.598 million. Both properties feature modern amenities, mountain views and short‑term rental potential, reflecting a broader market correction after pandemic‑driven price surges.
Meanwhile, high‑end listings on the Monterey Peninsula, Santa Cruz’s Upper West Side and the Borden Ranch AVA vineyard area continue to attract buyers at premium levels. A Craftsman home in Pacific Grove sold for $3.42 million, while a 92‑acre vineyard parcel with premium Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Vermentino vines listed for $3.4 million. These transactions illustrate that while the top tier remains strong, sellers are adjusting expectations across California’s luxury housing sector.
