California man arrested for murder after falsely claiming ICE detained wife
Gurinder Gill has been arrested on murder charges in connection with the death of his wife, Jasmine Gill, in California. Authorities say Gill initially provided a false account to investigators, claiming that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had detained Jasmine while she was retrieving mail at their Sacramento residence.
Detectives identified inconsistencies in the story after ICE officials confirmed that no agency operations had taken place in the area at the time of the disappearance. The investigation revealed that the couple was involved in an ongoing divorce and child custody battle.
The case progressed after burned human remains were discovered in neighboring El Dorado County on October 1. Authorities later confirmed the remains belonged to 30-year-old Jasmine Gill, a registered nurse. Gurinder Gill was taken into custody on October 14 and is being held without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
