California Man Arrested for Threatening Mississippi Judge in Nolan Wells Case

Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce, a 27‑year‑old Sacramento resident, was arrested on federal charges of interstate transmission of a threatening communication after allegedly sending bomb threats via Facebook Messenger to Jackson County Chancery Judge Ashlee Cole. The messages warned that a package would be delivered to her office, describing a bomb that would "blow you away" and urging the presence of "the boys" to witness it. Investigators linked the threats to Dumarce through email, IP addresses and phone records tied to his Sacramento address.

Judge Cole is the mother of Warren Hudson, a friend who was with 18‑year‑old Nolan Wells on the July 4 boat trip to Horn Island, Mississippi. Wells disappeared during that outing and his body was recovered two days later. The family and friends have faced a flood of threats since the death, prompting multiple law‑enforcement actions, including a separate bomb‑threat case involving an Ohio woman. Dumarce faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and supervised release if convicted.
