California man charged with murder after wife's remains found

Gurinder Gill, 28, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, Jasmine Gill, 30, in Sacramento, California. The investigation began after Jasmine, an Indian immigrant and registered nurse, was reported missing on October 4.

Initially, Gurinder Gill claimed that federal agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had detained his wife while she was retrieving mail from their residence. However, ICE officials confirmed that no enforcement operations had taken place at the property, exposing inconsistencies in his account.

Authorities discovered burned human remains in El Dorado County on October 1. DNA testing subsequently confirmed the remains belonged to Jasmine Gill. Investigators noted that the couple was involved in an ongoing divorce and child custody dispute at the time of her disappearance. Gurinder Gill remains in custody without bail.
