California officials recruit poll workers for November election

California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber and local election officials are calling for volunteers to serve as poll workers for the upcoming November 3 General Election. The recruitment drive coincides with National Poll Worker Recruitment Day.

Poll workers are responsible for setting up and closing polling locations, assisting voters with their rights, and ensuring the integrity of ballots and equipment. To support accessibility, officials are specifically seeking bilingual workers capable of assisting voters in various languages, including Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, and others.

Requirements for service include being a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. High school students aged 16 and older may also serve, provided they maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and obtain parental and school permission. In certain regions, such as San Diego County, there is a high demand for additional staff to cover vote centers in Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, and central San Diego.
