California police departments conduct DUI checkpoints

Law enforcement agencies in California are conducting DUI and driver’s license checkpoints to deter impaired driving.

The Folsom Police Department reported that an August 7 checkpoint, which screened 809 vehicles, resulted in two arrests—one for suspected driving under the influence and another for an outstanding warrant. Officers also issued eight citations for driver’s license and open-container violations and impounded one vehicle. The department has scheduled its next checkpoint for the evening of September 4.

In Laguna Beach, the Police Department has announced a DUI checkpoint scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026, running from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location. Authorities noted that checkpoints are strategically placed in high-risk areas to address impairment caused by alcohol, marijuana, prescription medications, and certain over-the-counter drugs.
