California police return stolen 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS to owner after 33 years
A 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS has been returned to its original owner 33 years after it was stolen in California in 1993.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol in Auburn discovered the vehicle after noticing irregularities during a routine check of the car's identification data. Following a detailed investigation and comparison with historical police records, and with assistance from the San Mateo police, it was confirmed that the black Chevelle SS with white stripes was the stolen vehicle.
The car was located approximately 240 kilometers away from the location where it was originally reported stolen. While the vehicle appears to be in well-preserved condition, the circumstances of its whereabouts over the last three decades remain unknown. Authorities have not reported any arrests in connection with the recovery.
