California primary election: registration deadline May 18 and ballot drop‑box locations

California’s June 2 primary election is approaching. Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber urged all voters to register by the May 18 deadline and reminded them that every active registered Californian will receive a vote‑by‑mail ballot. Voters can track their mailed or dropped‑off ballots online through the state’s “whereismyballot” service.

In Santa Clarita, a list of official ballot drop‑box sites is available, including fire stations, parks, libraries and the Metrolink station, each open 24 hours for voters to deposit their ballots.

The state advises voters who cannot access a drop box to mail their ballots early, preferably with a hand‑stamped postmark from a U.S. Post Office, to ensure timely counting.
