California reports two separate fatal incidents involving fathers

Two separate violent incidents involving fathers have occurred in California.

In San Juan Capistrano, 31-year-old Valentin Onofre Martinez was fatally stabbed in Orange County on October 7. Martinez was reportedly walking back to his children at a park after purchasing snacks and drinks when the attack occurred near Calle Santa Barbara and Los Rios Street. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has classified the incident as a homicide and assigned its Homicide and Gang Enforcement Team to the investigation. While several individuals were detained at the scene, no arrests have been made. Martinez’s fiancée has sought to clarify that the victim was not gang-affiliated.

In Los Angeles, 35-year-old Adolfo Gramajo allegedly shot his two sons, Jimmy, 4, and Osmani, 11, in the head in Koreatown. The incident occurred during a scheduled custody visit after the father had taken the children to a nearby restaurant. Gramajo reportedly turned the gun on himself but survived and remains hospitalized. The family has held memorial services for the children as community members offer support.
