California visitor spend from Australia forecast to reach AUD$2B

Australian visitor spending in California is projected to rebound to approximately USD$1.35 billion (AUD$1.89 billion) this year. Forecasts suggest this figure will rise to USD$1.43 billion (AUD$2 billion) by 2027.

This growth is attributed to Australian travelers staying longer, visiting more diverse destinations, and increasing their overall expenditure within the state. California expects Australia to account for five per cent of its total international visitor spending by 2026, noting that Australian tourists typically rank among the highest-spending international markets.

To support this rebound, Visit California conducted its largest trade and media delegation to Australia in eight years. The mission included 42 delegates representing 22 destinations, attractions, and hospitality brands, conducting 19 trade and media events across Sydney and Melbourne to connect with senior travel partners, airlines, and wholesalers.
