Calingasta Council investigates Councilman over alleged irregular payments

The Deliberative Council of Calingasta, in San Juan, is investigating Councilman Enzo Luna over allegations of irregular contracting and conflicts of interest involving public funds. Legislators are demanding the immediate presentation of invoices and payment receipts regarding multimillion-peso payments made by the municipality to Luna for cabin rentals intended for accommodation.

Luna is the nephew of the local mayor, Sebastián Carbajal. The council intends to review the documentation before deciding whether to file a formal criminal complaint. This follows a previous controversy involving Luna, who faced public criticism after the purchase of two iPhone 17 Pro Max devices valued at over 2.5 million pesos each.
