Calisthenics expands across Spain through municipal parks and courses
Calisthenics, a training method utilizing body weight for resistance, is experiencing significant growth across Spain. Municipalities are increasingly investing in dedicated outdoor spaces and integrating the discipline into local sports schools to promote active lifestyles and accessible public health.
In Caudete (Albacete), the local Sports Department is adding calisthenics to its Adult Sports School. Classes are scheduled to run from October 2026 through May 2027 at the Antonio Amorós Sports City, offering morning and evening sessions to accommodate different schedules. Meanwhile, the town of Moralzarzal in Madrid has approved plans to install new equipment.
In Alpedrete, the second annual Calisthenics Festival will take place on September 19, 2026, at the ‘El Navajuelo’ park. Organized by the local Youth Department, the free event is open to all ages from 5 years upward. The program includes workshops led by Free Movement professionals, exhibitions, challenges, and injury prevention techniques.
