Call of Duty Black Ops 1 & 2 receive new South Korean rating, sparking remaster speculation

The South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has assigned fresh age‑restriction ratings to Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, classifying both as “not suitable for minors” because of violence, realistic gunplay and strong language. The rating request was filed by Activision Blizzard on 21 May, and the inclusion of the “CC” console category hints at a possible re‑release.

Industry observers note that a new rating often precedes a remaster, modern port, or addition to subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass. With the Xbox Games Showcase looming, fans anticipate an official announcement that could bring the classic titles back to current platforms, following similar updates to the Modern Warfare series.

No confirmation has been issued by Activision or Microsoft, and the exact nature of any forthcoming version—whether a full graphical overhaul, a modest port, or a straight digital rerelease—remains unclear.
