Call of Duty: Black Ops cut Zombies mode uncovered after 15 years

YouTuber JTAG released video footage showing a previously unknown Zombies mode in the 2008 game Call of Duty: Black Ops. The mode, revealed in a recent PlayStation 4 port, uses a top‑down tower‑defence perspective similar to Bloons and also allows players to control a character on foot. The footage makes clear the mode was unfinished and was likely abandoned in favour of the later Dead Ops Arcade feature.

The discovery highlights Treyarch’s experimentation with the Zombies franchise, which originated in Call of Duty: World at War and has been revisited in many series entries. Because the content remained hidden for over a decade and shows no signs of being completed, it is unlikely to appear in future releases such as Modern Warfare 4, which is focusing on a different multiplayer mode.
