Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 launch plan and Black Ops 7 Classic mode unveiled

Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is slated for a 2024 release but will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Microsoft plans to add the title to the subscription service about twelve months after release, a shift following recent price cuts to the Ultimate and PC subscription tiers. Players will need to purchase the game outright initially, and pre‑order options are now online.

Separately, the latest update to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 introduced a "Classic" multiplayer mode on 4 June 2026. The mode removes modern mechanics such as wall‑bouncing, tactical sprint and advanced perk systems, returning to maps and gameplay styles from earlier Black Ops entries. Early player feedback praises the simplified experience and calls for the mode to become permanent.
