Callao judicial headquarters targeted with grenade and threatening note

An explosive device, identified as a grenade, and a threatening manuscript were discovered at the entrance of the Dos de Mayo judicial headquarters, belonging to the Superior Court of Justice of Callao.

The specialized Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (UDEX-PNP) of the National Police of Peru responded to the scene, successfully neutralizing and controlling the device. Authorities confirmed that no injuries or structural damage occurred during the incident. Following the discovery, the Superior Court of Callao implemented remote work protocols for all magistrates and staff for the day to ensure safety.

The Public Ministry and police are currently conducting investigations, including the review of security footage and fingerprint analysis, to identify those responsible for the act of intimidation. The Judiciary has officially rejected the threat, stating that such actions will not deter the institution from its constitutional duty to provide justice.
