Calle 232 film premieres in Cuba exploring caregiver realities

The film ‘Calle 232’, directed by Rudy Mora, is premiering at Cine Yara in Havana. A co-production between the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic) and the Mexican production company DMM Films, the movie explores the realities of caregivers, population aging, and the loneliness experienced by the elderly.

The plot follows Atila Romero, a renowned film director who becomes disabled after an accident and faces abandonment by his social circle during a crisis. The story focuses on Abel, a young man who chooses to become his caregiver.

The film previously premiered at the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, where it received a collateral award from the Quisicuaba Association for its sensitive treatment of the subject. The cast includes Isabel Santos, Jorge Alí, Luis Ángel Batista, and Chabely Díaz.
