Calligrapher Mehmet Özçay donates handwritten Mushaf to TYEK
Renowned Turkish calligrapher Mehmet Özçay has donated the original handwritten manuscript of ‘Mushaf-ı Mehmet Özçay’ to the Presidency of the Türkiye Yazma Eserler Kurumu (TYEK). The work, which took four and a half years to complete, is the first manuscript to be donated to the TYEK Written Mushafs Department.
Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that the unique piece will be carefully preserved in the Süleymaniye Manuscript Library, introduced through scientific publications, and passed down to future generations. The donation follows a promise made by Özçay during the ‘Sultanların Mushafları’ exhibition opened on February 25, 2025.
The manuscript was officially delivered to Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Coşkun Yılmaz. The handover ceremony was attended by various officials, including the President of the TYEK Written Mushafs Department and the Rector of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
