Callosa de Segura: Couple arrested for human trafficking and sexual exploitation

The Guardia Civil has arrested a couple, aged 59 and 66, for human trafficking and illegal detention in Callosa de Segura, Alicante. The operation was initiated after a victim managed to alert emergency services via an acquaintance, reporting that she was being forced into prostitution against her will.

Investigations revealed that the victims were recruited through fraudulent job offers promising positions as waitresses with salaries and accommodation. Upon arrival, they were instead forced into sexual exploitation under constant control and without freedom of movement. Authorities discovered the exploitation was occurring in an isolated building that functioned as a bar on the ground floor and a residence on the upper floor.

During the raid, officers rescued two women and placed the suspects in provisional custody. Additionally, investigators found documents containing up to fifty identities of women potentially subjected to sexual exploitation within the Alicante region. The three women involved in the immediate case have been granted protected witness status.
