Callum Mills suffers knee injury during AFL qualifying final
Sydney Swans captain Callum Mills suffered a knee injury during the first quarter of the AFL qualifying final against Brisbane at the SCG. Mills was forced from the field after his right knee gave way while attempting to corral Brisbane's Will Ashcroft. The club confirmed Mills would play no further part in the match, and he was later seen on the bench using crutches.
The injury comes at a difficult time for the Swans, following recent club turmoil and player suspensions. The match also saw Brisbane's Noah Ahthan briefly leave the field with an ankle issue, though he returned to play. Despite the loss of their captain, the Swans maintained early momentum, leading 40-8 late in the first quarter with goals from Logan McDonald and Tom Papley.
