Calp and Pamplona launch municipal drug prevention programs

The city council of Calp, Spain, has added a Community Addiction Prevention Unit (UPCA) to its Department of Social Welfare. The unit will run prevention programmes, information campaigns and health‑promotion activities aimed at the whole population, schools and families, and will provide targeted support for vulnerable groups and individuals already at risk of drug use.

In Pamplona, Norte de Santander, Colombia, municipal officials together with police have identified teenagers aged 14‑17 using marijuana and bazuco in the El Olivo area. Recent operations seized drugs, detained a 17‑year‑old girl and dismantled three makeshift camps, and authorities say they will increase interventions to curb further consumption.
