Calp municipality opens two new public parking lots on private land
The town of Calp in Spain is leasing two privately owned parcels to create public parking facilities. The sites – Senieta 3C opposite the tennis club and Senieta 7E near access road J and the sports courts – each cover about 2,000 m² and together will provide roughly 150 free parking spaces. The spaces are expected to open to the public within days.
The initiative continues the 2022 framework for "aparcamientos disuasorios" (discouragement parking), aimed at reducing vehicle traffic in the historic centre and near the Arenal‑Bol beach by encouraging drivers to park on the outskirts and walk to the core. Mayor Ana Sala said the council has been working to acquire private parcels to meet high parking demand in these high‑traffic areas.
