Caltanissetta authority expands vaccination sites, maintains pediatric care

The Provincial Health Authority of Caltanissetta announced an expansion of vaccination services in the Caltagirone health district beginning in August. New vaccination sessions will be offered at additional community centers in Mirabella Imbaccari and Mineo, supplementing existing sites in Caltagirone, Grammichele, San Michele di Ganzaria, Vizzini, and Mazzarrone. The schedule runs Monday to Friday with specific localities assigned to each day, and appointments are required except for first pediatric vaccinations.

In the Mussomeli district, the resignation of a pediatrician triggered urgent measures to preserve child health services. The health authority issued a rapid call to pediatric specialists, extended the search regionally, and ultimately appointed a substitute pediatrician on a short‑term basis to ensure uninterrupted care for local families. Communication with parents clarified the change in hours and contact details, aiming to minimise disruption.

Both initiatives are part of broader efforts by the Caltanissetta health system, under the leadership of Antonio Leonardi and Salvatore Donato, to strengthen preventive health services and maintain essential medical assistance in Sicily.
