Caltanissetta Court faces appeal over Mignechi shooting case

Defense attorneys for Valerio Caiola have requested the inadmissibility of an appeal filed by the prosecution regarding a shooting incident in the Mignechi district of Gela.

In the initial trial, Caiola was sentenced to two years and eight months for threats, but the more serious charge of attempted murder was dropped. The prosecution appealed this decision, arguing that the shooting targeted three relatives in a vehicle. The defense contends there is no concrete evidence the individuals were inside the car at the time of the incident and argues that the prosecution's appeal was improperly presented.

A decision from the Caltanissetta Court of Appeal is expected at the end of October.
