Caltanissetta labor inspections uncover 39 unregistered workers
The Guardia di Finanza conducted inspections across 21 businesses in the province of Caltanissetta during the first nine months of the year, uncovering significant labor irregularities. The checks targeted sectors including catering, agriculture, wholesale and retail trade, and entertainment.
Authorities identified 39 workers employed entirely without legal contracts and found irregularities regarding the employment status of an additional 16 workers. As a result, 20 employers faced sanctions. Common violations included failing to notify the Employment Center of new hires within the required 24-hour window. Such infractions carry heavy fines ranging from €1,950 to €46,800 per employee, depending on the number of irregular working days.
In 10 instances, where unregistered workers accounted for at least 10% of the total staff present during inspections, reports were sent to the Territorial Labor Inspectorate for potential suspension of business activities. Other violations identified included failure to use traceable payment systems and issues regarding workplace safety and the delivery of payslips.
