Caltrans Announces Full Overnight Closure of Highway 217 in Goleta, CA

Caltrans will implement a full overnight closure of Highway 217 in Goleta, California, beginning Monday, August 10 and continuing through Wednesday, August 12. Each night the lane will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Hollister Avenue and Sandspit Road while crews complete final striping on both eastbound and westbound lanes as part of the San Jose Creek Bridge Replacement Project.

Detour routes are provided: westbound traffic will exit at the Hollister off‑ramp, follow Hollister Avenue, turn left on Fairview Avenue, then proceed via James Fowler Road and Moffett Place to re‑enter Highway 217; eastbound traffic from UCSB will use the Sandspit off‑ramp, follow Moffett Place and Fowler Road, then Fairview Avenue and Hollister Avenue back onto the highway. The closure is expected to end by the morning of Thursday, August 14, and updates are posted on Caltrans District 5 social‑media channels.
