Calvert County Board of Education approves leadership roles and reviews policies
The Calvert County Board of Education recently held a meeting to address administrative leadership changes and proposed policy revisions for the upcoming school year.
Six leadership appointments were approved to fill roles across three schools and two district departments. These appointments include Erik Holm as assistant principal at Calvert Elementary School, Ryan Butler as assistant principal at Calvert High School, and Kristen Morris as assistant principal at Mill Creek Middle School. Additionally, Krysten Sneade was named principal of Calvert Country School, while Dean Jones and Brandi Taeschner were appointed as supervisors of school safety and special education, respectively.
The board also reviewed several policy proposals, including a suggestion by board member Lisa Grenis to require parental notification and consent before students participate in research. District staff noted that such a requirement could impact large-scale research projects, and further discussions with Superintendent Marcus Newsome are expected. Other reviews included updates to whistleblower protections and revisions to the grading policy to better align with current procedures and course rigor.
