Calvin Verdonk set to become first Indonesian in Champions League

LOSC Lille has announced that defender Calvin Verdonk is set to become the first player with Indonesian citizenship to compete in the UEFA Champions League group stage. The 29-year-old joined the French club in September 2025 and played a significant role in their 2025/26 Ligue 1 campaign, making 18 appearances and helping the team secure a third-place finish.

This third-place finish earned Lille direct qualification for the 2026/27 Champions League league phase. While players such as Kevin Diks and Emil Audero have previously appeared in the Champions League, they did not hold Indonesian citizenship at the time of their participation.
