Baltimore Ravens acquire Cam Jurgens from Eagles following private physical

The Baltimore Ravens have acquired center Cam Jurgens from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade involving a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick. To avoid a repeat of a failed offseason trade for Maxx Crosby, the Ravens took the unusual step of conducting Jurgens’ physical at the Eagles’ facility before the deal was finalized.

Ravens medical staff, including the chief medical officer and head trainer, performed the examination while Jurgens was in concussion protocol and recovering from 2025 back surgery. Once cleared, the trade was immediately announced. This proactive approach to medical vetting has been noted as a potential new benchmark for NFL trade negotiations.

The trade comes during a period of significant roster turnover for the Eagles, following the retirement of right tackle Lane Johnson and the potential trade availability of guard Landon Dickerson. While some analysts, including former Eagles president Joe Banner, have suggested the Ravens overpaid for Jurgens due to his recent injury history, the move addresses Baltimore’s urgent need at the center position.
