Cam Schiller banned from softball for three years after steroid use

Cam Schiller, a former MLB draft pick and USA men’s softball infielder, has received a three-year ban from USA Softball activities following a positive doping test. The International Testing Agency (ITA) announced that Schiller tested positive for 19-norandrosterone, a metabolite of the anabolic steroid nandrolone, during an in-competition test on July 13, 2025, at the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup.

After a B sample confirmed the presence of the prohibited substance, Schiller accepted the consequences of the anti-doping rule violation. This admission resulted in a one-year reduction of his initial four-year suspension. His ban is set to conclude on August 7, 2028.

As part of the disciplinary action, Schiller has been stripped of his individual results, medals, points, and awards from the 2025 World Cup. This includes his performance during the tournament where the United States secured a bronze medal by defeating Japan 10-1. Schiller, who was previously selected by the Texas Rangers in the 2012 MLB draft, had already submitted a retirement notice following the tournament.
