Cam Schlittler named Yankees starter for Wild Card Game 1

The New York Yankees have named Cam Schlittler as the starting pitcher for Game 1 of the American League Wild Card series against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Manager Aaron Boone selected the right-hander following his strong regular season, which included a 2.21 ERA. Schlittler has shown particular dominance against Boston, maintaining a 0.74 ERA in four starts against the team this season.

The decision comes as the Yankees' starting rotation stabilizes. Max Fried, who recently returned from the injured list, is slated to start Game 2, while Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodón remain key components of the rotation. Fried noted that having a consistent group of healthy arms, including Schlittler, is a significant milestone for the team as they enter the postseason.
