Cam Skattebo considered retirement after severe ankle injury

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo revealed that he seriously considered retiring last season following a severe ankle injury. During an appearance on the ‘Up & Adams Show’, the 23-year-old athlete explained that he had previously set a personal rule to walk away from football if he ever suffered a major injury.

The injury occurred during Week 8 of his rookie season, involving a severe ankle dislocation, multiple fractures, and ligament damage. Skattebo noted that shortly after the incident, he questioned his desire to continue playing professionally. However, he ultimately decided to pursue recovery, noting that the period of inactivity allowed for significant personal growth and self-reflection.

Skattebo, a fourth-round pick from Arizona State, is currently back with the Giants and included on the initial 53-man roster. While the team possesses depth at the position with players like Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, and Najee Harris, Skattebo is expected to be part of the rotation under new head coach John Harbaugh.
