Cam Skattebo leads Giants to overtime victory over Texans
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo rushed for a career-high 124 yards and a touchdown in a 27-21 overtime victory against the Houston Texans. Skattebo’s performance included a 42-yard run in overtime that set up Devin Singletary’s winning touchdown. Despite the statistical success, Skattebo addressed a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness received during the game for lowering his helmet while driving into a Texans safety.
Skattebo criticized the NFL for what he perceives as a double standard, noting that the league often highlights his physical playing style in social media content while simultaneously penalizing or fining him for the same actions. He stated, “I’m going to run the ball like I want to run the ball. If I’m going to continue to get flags for it or fined for it, guess I’m going to play for free.”
The win comes amid injury uncertainty for the Giants' backfield, as Tyrone Tracy Jr. left the game with a hamstring injury.
