Cam Skattebo prepares for heavy workload with New York Giants
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo has revealed that he briefly considered retirement following a severe ankle injury during his rookie season. Skattebo suffered an open fracture of his right ankle in the eighth game of his debut campaign, an injury that ended his season after he had recorded 410 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns.
Despite the setback, Skattebo is positioned to take on a significant role in the Giants' offense for the 2026 season. Head coach John Harbaugh has reportedly discussed the possibility of Skattebo handling a workhorse workload of 20 or more carries per game. The team has placed Skattebo at the top of the running back depth chart, signaling high expectations for his ability to lead the backfield despite having not yet completed a full NFL season.
