Camalaú municipality faces budget impasse and stalled public exam procurement

The city of Camalaú in Brazil is awaiting approval from its municipal council to incorporate a R$500,000 grant from the Ministry of Tourism into the budget. The funds have been deposited but require legislative authorization; failure to approve could force the municipality to incur a debt of the same amount and trigger cuts to local events such as the Festa do Pindurão and the I Expo Camalaú.

Separately, Camalaú's planned public‑service exam has been delayed after the bidding process for the organizing agency was declared desert, with no proposals submitted. The municipality must now decide whether to repost the tender or initiate a new procurement procedure, postponing the hiring of staff for health, education and other municipal services.
