Cambodia and Malaysia pledge to expand trade and investment cooperation

Cambodia and Malaysia have pledged to deepen bilateral economic, trade, and investment cooperation. This commitment follows a meeting in Phnom Penh between Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), and Shaharuddin Onn, the Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia.

According to reports from the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE), bilateral trade between the two nations reached $1.07 billion from January to August 2026, representing a 55.5% increase compared to the previous year. Cambodian exports to Malaysia rose by 71.8% to $151.76 million, while imports from Malaysia grew by 53.1% to $921.19 million.

Malaysia currently stands as Cambodia’s seventh-largest international trading partner. Additionally, the Cambodia Development Council (CDC) noted that Malaysian investors accounted for approximately 4.26% of the total investment capital approved for 276 projects during the first half of 2026.
