Cambodia flooding affects 44,000 families across 10 provinces
Severe flooding in Cambodia has affected more than 44,000 families across 10 provinces, with particularly heavy impact in the north-western Battambang province. In Battambang alone, authorities report that 21,807 families have been affected and 856 families were evacuated as floodwaters reached all 14 cities and districts in the province.
The deluge has submerged homes, buildings, and roads, and inundated 35,612 hectares of rice fields. Local residents have noted that the severity of this year's flooding is unprecedented compared to the last 30 years. The flooding has caused significant disruption to agriculture, with orchards and farmland covered by water, making travel difficult for farmers and residents.
