Cambodia launches nationwide casino inspections to ban online betting
Cambodian authorities are launching nationwide inspections of casino properties to enforce a prohibition on online betting. The initiative follows a decision by Prime Minister Hun Manet to ban casino-based online gambling starting in October.
The Cambodian Gambling Management Commission (CGMC) and the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS) will conduct joint inspections. These efforts aim to determine if gambling establishments are complying with licensing requirements and to identify illegal online hosting on their premises.
The inspection teams will include representatives from 16 regional and municipal jurisdictions, alongside officials from labor departments, national police, and prosecutors. Casinos found providing illegal online gambling services will face administrative punishment and potential police intervention.
