Cambodia: Major dairy investment and border tensions

In Cambodia, Malaysian dairy company Farm Fresh Berhad, in partnership with Alpha Group and Sonavith Co., Ltd., is investing $68 million to establish a 1,000-hectare integrated dairy facility in Pursat province. The project will include cattle farming and an on-site milk processing plant to reduce reliance on foreign imports.

On the diplomatic front, King Norodom Sihamoni called for national unity during the inauguration of the new Senate headquarters, praising Senate President Hun Sen. Meanwhile, tensions have risen along the Thai-Cambodian border. ASEAN observers inspected military installations in Banteay Meanchey province that Phnom Penh claims are preventing over 1,400 residents from returning to their homes. Cambodia has also requested an urgent meeting regarding border delimitation and accused Thailand of constructing military infrastructure in Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces.

Additionally, Cambodia is developing its first National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security to increase female participation in conflict resolution. In maritime news, the British Royal Navy patrol vessel HMS Tamar docked in Sihanoukville.
