Cambodia reaches record 1 million tonnes of rice exports
Cambodia has officially surpassed 1 million tonnes of processed rice exports, achieving a milestone first set by the government in 2010. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), the country exported 1.014 million tonnes as of October 19, 2026.
Prime Minister Hun Manet described the achievement as a proud moment for the nation, noting that the figure breaks previous records and represents a significant advancement for the agricultural sector. While the 1-million-tonne goal was originally targeted for 2015, previous attempts failed due to limited milling capacity, insufficient storage, and lack of processing capital.
Lay Chhun Hour, Chairman of the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), attributed this success to improved processing capabilities, increased financial support, market diversification, and the enhanced international reputation of Cambodian rice. The growth was supported by government initiatives to link farmers with exporters and financial assistance from the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank to bolster production and processing resources.
