Cambodia rice exports surge to $415 million in first seven months of 2026
Cambodia's milled rice exports saw significant growth in the first seven months of 2026, reaching 707,471 tons and generating approximately $415 million. This represents a 68% increase in volume and a 34% increase in value compared to the same period in 2025.
The European Union remains the largest market by value, importing 207,157 tons worth over $156 million. China and its autonomous regions followed with 174,930 tons valued at approximately $103.1 million, while five ASEAN member states purchased 266,300 tons totaling $102 million.
Aromatic rice constitutes the majority of exports at 59.23%, followed by white rice at 23.66%. Lay Chhun Hour, President of the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), attributed the growth to high demand from the Philippines, China, and the EU. The CRF is currently planning to expand into the US and Middle Eastern markets while focusing on high-quality rice promotion.
