Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary Visits Vietnam to Boost Parliamentary Ties

Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary led an official delegation to Vietnam from 27 – 29 July 2026. During the visit she met Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng, President of the Vietnam National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and other senior officials, including Party General Secretary To Lâm and Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu. The meetings were framed as a chance to deepen parliamentary cooperation, reinforce political trust and expand joint work in digital transformation, infrastructure, tourism, education and border security.

Vietnam and Cambodia highlighted the economic dimension of their partnership. Bilateral trade reached about US$11.3 billion in 2025 and US$6.86 billion in the first half of 2026 – a 10.3 % year‑on‑year rise – and both sides set a target of US$20 billion in trade turnover. Vietnam currently holds 229 approved investment projects in Cambodia with a total capital of roughly US$3 billion, making it one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors. The parties reaffirmed commitments to maintain a peaceful border, prevent external interference and intensify cooperation on law‑enforcement and crime‑prevention.
