Cambodian Deputy PM Hun Many meets Indonesia's Megawati on Pancasila

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many visited Jakarta and met with Indonesian political veteran Megawati Soekarnoputri. During the talks Hun Many praised Indonesia’s role in ending Cambodia’s civil war and highlighted admiration for the Indonesian principle of Pancasila that unites a diverse nation. He said Cambodia wishes to study Indonesia’s experience to strengthen its own national identity and cohesion as the country rebuilds after the Khmer Rouge era.

The meeting also recalled Indonesia’s diplomatic contributions through the Jakarta Informal Meetings of 1988‑89 and the 1991 Paris Peace Agreement, which were led by then‑foreign minister Ali Alatas. Hun Many was accompanied by Cambodian Ambassador Tean Samnang, while Megawati was joined by senior members of the PDIP and the BPIP advisory council.
