Cambodian Korean Association celebrates 30th anniversary

The Cambodian Korean Association celebrated its 30th anniversary on August 28 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Held at the Oakwood Premier Hotel under the theme ‘30 Years Together, Opening a New Future Together,’ the event commemorated the association's role in supporting the Korean diaspora since its founding in 1996.

Key attendees included Kim Kyung-hyup, Commissioner of the Overseas Koreans Agency; Ambassador Kim Chang-ryong; and South Korean National Assembly member Hong Ki-won. The ceremony highlighted the growing economic and diplomatic ties between South Korea and Cambodia, noting that approximately 10,000 Koreans reside in Cambodia and bilateral trade reached $1.2 billion in 2025.

During the event, awards were presented to individuals who contributed to the development of the Korean community and Cambodia. The celebration also featured a photo exhibition showcasing 140 images documenting the history and settlement of the Korean community over the past three decades.
