Cambrex and WuXi XDC expand global CDMO manufacturing and R&D capabilities

Contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs) Cambrex Corp. and WuXi XDC have announced significant expansions to their global manufacturing and research capabilities.

Cambrex has commenced construction on a $30 million research and development facility at its site in Milan, Italy. The project aims to enhance advanced analytical development and process R&D capabilities, alongside upgrades to existing production plants. The expansion, which includes the acquisition of adjacent land to support future growth, is expected to be completed in the second half of 2027.

In Singapore, WuXi XDC has announced the GMP release of its BCM3 dual-function production line. Located in the Tuas Biomedical Park, this facility is the company’s first overseas GMP-released site. The production line is designed to support antibody intermediates and conjugated drug substances with batch sizes ranging from 200 to 2,000 liters, boosting the company’s overall capacity for bioconjugate manufacturing.
