Cambridge Exam Paper Leak Triggers Postponement and Scams Ahead of Irish Exams

Cambridge International Education confirmed that an AS Level Mathematics paper (code 9709) scheduled for May 15 in Pakistan was leaked ahead of the exam. The board postponed the test, announced a replacement date (June 9) and said affected students will retake the paper. This follows a similar leak of the same paper on April 29 and earlier incidents involving other AS/A‑Level subjects in 2025, prompting legal action and heightened security measures.

Separately, ESET Ireland warned that cybercriminals are exploiting exam pressure in Ireland by circulating fake "leaked" Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle papers, fraudulent study notes, and malicious download links on platforms such as WhatsApp, TikTok, Discord and Telegram. George Foley of ESET said, “Exam season creates exactly the kind of pressure cybercriminals exploit,” and advised students and parents not to click, pay, or share suspicious material.

Both Cambridge and Irish education authorities urge schools and candidates to rely solely on official communications, avoid sharing unverified exam content, and report any suspected scams. The events affect thousands of A‑Level candidates in Pakistan and over 140,000 Irish students preparing for state examinations.
