Cambridge receives $18.2 million for affordable housing projects

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) has allocated $18.2 million to support two affordable housing developments in Cambridge. This funding is part of a larger $276 million statewide initiative led by Governor Maura Healey.

The first project, managed by Homeowners Rehab Inc., will create 95 new homes for families and seniors at 28-30 Wendell Street. The second project involves the redevelopment of Corcoran Park in Strawberry Hill by the Cambridge Housing Alliance. This phase includes approximately $5.6 million to replace a flood-prone 29-unit building with 67 new apartments and townhomes.

Together, these two awards are expected to produce 162 affordable rental units. The projects have already utilized Cambridge’s Affordable Housing Overlay process to complete zoning requirements.
