Cambridgeshire businesses see new openings and closures

Several businesses in Cambridgeshire are experiencing changes this month, including new openings and closures driven by corporate restructuring.

Greggs has opened its second location in Ely at the former HSBC unit on Butter Market, creating 12 new jobs. In Cambridge, the Grafton Ping Pong Parlour has reopened at the Grafton Centre, offering six free-to-use tables until November 1.

Conversely, Whitbread, the owner of Premier Inn, is undergoing a major overhaul that includes plans to cut approximately 3,800 jobs across the UK and Ireland. As part of this restructuring, several restaurants are scheduled to close in September, including The Highwayman Cookhouse and Pub in St Neots and The Granary Beefeater in Peterborough.

In Peterborough, the bookshop and cafe Ink & Ember, also known as ‘The Burrow’, opened at the Queensgate Centre on August 22.
