Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue wins national menopause support award
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service has been named the Menopause Friendly Employer of the Year (Public Sector) at the Menopause and Menstruation Friendly Employer Awards. The ceremony took place on September 16.
The service received the award for its efforts to integrate menopause awareness, education, and support into its workplace culture. To support staff, the organization has implemented mandatory menopause awareness training, updated official guidance, and introduced workplace-adjustment risk assessments.
Hayley Douglas, the service’s menopause champion and assistant director of communication and engagement, noted that the training helps colleagues feel more comfortable having open conversations about menopause symptoms and their impact both at work and at home. Deborah Garlick, CEO of Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace, stated that such initiatives help create environments where employees feel understood and supported.
